The Official Unofficial Las Vegas Athletics Tailgate Guide

Where to go before the game, what to bring, and how to do a proper Vegas sports pregame.

Tailgating in Las Vegas hits differently than anywhere else. The weather is usually perfect, there is more food within half a mile of any stadium than most cities have in their entire downtown, and the people who show up for a Vegas A's tailgate are a mix of lifelong Oakland fans who followed the team and new Vegas fans who found something to root for. Both groups are welcome. Both groups eat.

The Allegiant Stadium complex has designated tailgate areas that open three hours before first pitch. Bring a grill or find the setup that works for you. Parking in the stadium lots runs $25-40 for premium spots — factor that into your budget. The alternative is to pregame in one of the nearby bar areas and walk or rideshare to the gate.

For food: the area around the stadium has expanded significantly since the stadium opened. There are options from casino food halls to local Vegas joints within rideshare distance. The tailgate traditionalists who want a parking lot grill are well served by the stadium facilities.

The crowd mix at A's games in Vegas is still forming its identity. You will see green and gold from Oakland next to Las Vegas-specific A's gear. You will hear debates about whether the franchise made the right move. You will also see families with kids who grew up here and have no Oakland context, just a local team to root for. Watch how those communities blend over the next five years. It is genuinely interesting.
